The natural beauty and vibrant colours of the
Cayman Islands inspire many an artist to pick up a pencil or paintbrush. There
is a thriving artistic community on the islands that includes not only painters
but sculptors, photographers, jewellery makers and more. To see some of the diverse styles and
interpretations of local artists, a visit to some of our local galleries is a
must.
Pure Art
Cayman’s oldest art
gallery is housed in a charming, 100 year old Caymanian house just south of George
Town. Spread out over several rooms, the works of emerging and established
local artists adorn the walls of the house. Owner Debbie van der Bol, an artist
herself, is committed to supporting local artists whatever medium they choose
to work in. In addition to paintings, Pure Art also sells a collection of
locally made crafts, jewellery, thatch, condiments and soaps.
