Capturing the Sister Islands
The Sister Islands are the perfect destination for photographers, with an unlimited supply of stunning subjects.
Both Cayman Brac and Little Cayman abound with nature, from unique birds and iguanas to indigenous plants and trees. And don’t forget the majestic scenery.
A simple hike on the Brac’s bluff can lead to unexpected visual treats that are just begging to be photographed. The wild cliff-face of the bluff offers dramatic footage, or get up close and personal with one of the many brown booby birds that nest at the edge of the cliff.
The bluff contains 180 acres of woodland, which makes up the Brac Parrot Reserve, an important breeding habitat for the Cayman Brac parrot. The Brac is riddled with caves that make for unique and interesting photographs.
Nature trails abound on the Brac, so take your time and keep your camera handy.
On Little Cayman, rare red-footed boobies, frigate birds and an array of other wetland birds can be found at the Booby Pond behind the National Trust Building. A helpful guide to the birds captured in your viewfinder is available on the second-floor balcony of the building.
And don’t forget Little Cayman’s slow-moving rock iguanas, which are always willing to pose for photographs.
